Information and Media Literacy

Students (and educators) have such a huge variety of choices in where and how they can access information. Students (and educators) should familiarize themselves with what is out there and:

• learn which media and methods are most appropriate for your type of research
• learn to evaluate sources (see Research and Search Engines for web evaluation)
• learn to cite sources (see Citation) for all types of media
• learn the rules of copyright (see Copyright Free or Open Source Media )

Media Awareness

One aspect of evaluating sources of information is becoming familiar with bias and intent. There are some excellent resources on the web to help you learn/teach this skill.
